Coco Fennell began in 2011 in my London flat!

My aim was to make clothes that are genuinely flattering and fun.

More than fifteen years on, that still hasn't changed.

Each collection is rooted in vintage nostalgia — drawn from everything I love: kitsch, retro fashion, Americana, embroidery, trinkets, old wallpapers, antique shops, holiday postcards, classic movies and a healthy dose of joy. 

Pieces are designed to flatter, made to be cherished, and born to be worn for the kind of moments that make you feel magical.

Every piece is produced in small runs. So when you wear it, it's truly yours - no bumping into someone across the room in the same dress.

Popular shapes return each season in fresh new prints. So if something catches your eye and sells out, there's always something special just around the corner.

Coco's History

This photo is from my first collection ever - the photos were taken by my friend Bella Howard and modelled by my friend Nettie Wakefield, against a brick wall in my tiny studio flat. It was all very DIY, but that was part of the fun.

I started the whole business with just £1,000 — that had to cover making the clothes, building the website and shooting the collection. I hope this inspires you to know you can start a business if you want to!

Things really started to take off in 2012 - the fabulous stylist Avigail Collins dressed Rihanna, Pixie Lott and Daisy Lowe in my dresses. This brought a new audience to the brand and meant I could give up my side hustle as a graphic designer and run Coco Fennell full time.

Over the years I have loved collaborating with other wonderful people I admire. Here is an image from the collection I did with Karen Mabon! I've also collaborated with artist Ceal Warnants. The pieces were featured in the movie 'Promising Young Woman'

One of my favourite parts of Coco Fennell is creating the photoshoots. I love working with brilliant creatives, finding amazing locations and bringing the whole Coco world to life. The clothes are only part of it — I love creating something playful, colourful and a little bit escapist.

I still run the business day to day myself. I design the collections, answer emails, pack orders and do pretty much everything else! Which I hope to be able to keep doing for a very long time as I love my customers and I love this job!
